Box Score 2 TAYLORSVILLE, UT. (April 2, 2021) – A Friday doubleheader with the NJCAA's top-ranked team ended in a split for the College of Southern Nevada softball team Friday.
The Lady Coyotes split a pair of games to No. 1 Salt Lake in a Scenic West doubleheader, earning an 11-9 win in game one and a 9-1 loss to the Bruins in game two. The split sets Southern Nevada at 20-17 overall and 10-9=8 in Scenic West play.
Southern Nevada will face off against Salt Lake in another doubleheader Saturday.
Southern Nevada 11, Salt Lake 9: A fast start lifted the Lady Coyotes to a win against the nation's top team.
CSN jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the second inning, taking advantage of early SLCC pitching miscues. Southern Nevada posted 14 hits in the win, with
Caitlin Covington going 3-of-4 at the plate.
Jocelyn Shupp finished 2-of-4 with three RBI's. Southern Nevada hit four home runs.
Salt Lake 9, Southern Nevada 1: The Bruins responded with a strong offensive performance in game two.
Salt Lake jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the second inning, finishing with a run-rule win. The Lady Coyotes mustered just two hits in the loss, with
Kayley Cole hitting a solo home run in the third inning.
Cole led CSN at the plate, going 1-of-3.
