HENDERSON, Nev. (April 23, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada softball team powered to an impressive Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep Friday.
CSN earned a pair of strong run-rule victories over Colorado Northwestern, winning games of 16-1 and 7-0. The victories lift Southern Nevada to 26-23 overall and 16-14 in Scenic West play. Southern Nevada remains locked in a battle with Southern Idaho, Snow and USU Eastern for positioning in the Scenic West standings.
Southern Nevada and Colorado Northwestern will play another doubleheader Saturday.
Southern Nevada 16, Colorado Northwestern 1: A six-run first inning set the tone in a run-rule win for Southern Nevada.
Madelyn Kennedy hit a three-run triple to key the Lady Coyotes in the opening gram, with
Bailey Pepper hitting an RBI single.
Kayley Cole and
Caitlin Covington added RBI singles in the second inning, with
Liliana Gutierrez posting a solo home run in the third inning. CSN posted 13 hits in the win.
Kayley Cole led CSN with a 3-of-4 performance at the plate, while Kennedy was 2-of-3 with a team-high four RBI's.
Tyanna Kaailaii earned the pitching win, finishing with seven strikeouts.

Hannah Mearideth hit a two-run double in the first inning, boosting CSN to the victory.
Madelynn Kennedy added an RBI double in the fourth inning, with Mearideth doing the same in the fifth inning.
Kayley Cole had an RBI single in the fourth inning.
Cole was 3-of-4 at the plate, while Mearideth went 2-of-3 with a trio of RBI's.
Codilyn Olds picked up the pitching victory, throwing a complete game with six strikeouts in the circle.
