HENDERSON, Nev. (April 24, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada softball team powered through a Saturday doubleheader with Colorado Northwestern, finishing off a series sweep and claiming a great deal of momentum in the process.
CSN earned victories of 9-0 and 18-3 in the day's results, moving to a perfect 8-0 against Colorado Northwestern on the season. The Lady Coyotes are now 28-23 overall and 18-14 in Scenic West play with the wins.
Southern Nevada will travel to play at USU Eastern in a four-game series next weekend.
Southern Nevada 9, Colorado Northwestern 0: CSN posted every run in the first inning, setting a tone for the day.
The Lady Coyotes scored nine runs in the opening frame, with
Kayley Cole hitting a solo home run to start things off.
Caitlin Covington later hit a two-run home run in the frame, with
Liliana Gutierrez hitting a two-run home run. Cole later hit an RBI double in the inning.
Cole went 2-of-3 at the plate, while
Hannah Mearideth went 2-of-3 also.
Serenity Jackson earned the pitching victory, allowing just a pair of hits in five innings.

Cole hit a solo home run in the first inning, also adding a two-run single later in the game.
Caitlin Covington posted a bases-clearing, three-run double in the first inning as CSN took a 10-2 lead.
Covington and
Kendall Menke both went 3-of-3, while Cole posted a team-high four RBI's in the win.
Amber Triviso earned the pitching win, striking out six batters from the circle while pitching all five innings.
