PRICE, UT. (April 30, 2021) – The last road series of the 2021 regular season started with a doubleheader split for the College of Southern Nevada softball team.
The Lady Coyotes split a pair of games with host USU Eastern, losing 22-6 in game one and winning 5-4 in game two. The split levels CSN at 29-24 overall and 19-15 in Scenic West standings.
Southern Nevada will play USU Eastern in another doubleheader on Friday.
Southern Nevada 5, USU Eastern 4: A strong first inning helped CSN roll to a win in the day's second game.
The Lady Coyotes posted four runs in the first inning, taking a lead they wouldn't relinquish. They would add another run in the fifth inning before USU Eastern cut the deficit late.
Caitlin Covington went 3-of-3 at the plate to lead Southern Nevada, while
Mayu Nishijima went 2-of-4. Covington had a home run in the game, with
Amber Triviso picking up the pitching win.
USU Eastern 22, Southern Nevada 6: The Lady Coyotes fell behind early and couldn't recover in a tough loss in the first game.
USU Eastern jumped out to a 14-0 lead after the second inning, creating an advantage CSN could never recover from. Southern Nevada posted four runs in the third inning, with two more runs in the fourth inning.
CSN posted just a pair of hits in the game.
