HENDERSON, Nev. (May 19, 2021) - The College of Southern Nevada baseball team had to comeback in thrilling fashion to earn the Region 18 championship, downing top-seed Salt Lake twice on the final day to earn the title.
Â
The opportunities for CSN don't stop now, with the Coyotes set to take the field Thursday in the NJCAA West District tournament in Arizona. CSN will open the competition on Thursday against host Yavapai College at 2:00 p.m. The double-elimination bracket will see the winner of that game advance to a semifinal game on Friday.

Southern Nevada coach
Nick Garritano said his team is excited for the postseason opportunities that are ahead after the success they had in the past weekend's Region 18 competition.
Â
"We want to believe we are very confident after showing we can win four games in two days against very good opponents," he said. "USU Eastern and CSI had good years and were very tough throughout this tourney. CSI beat us to open the tourney on Thursday and for our guys to come back and win that game Friday evening with a really good arm going for them spoke volumes."
Â
The Coyotes will turn their attention to a West District field that includes Yavapai, Central Arizona, and Western Nebraska. Yavapai finished at 32-19 during the season.
Â
Garritano said CSN will have to be ready for a tough matchup on Thursday.
Â
"There are a bunch of heavyweights getting ready to play each other with a berth to the NJCAA World Series on the line," he said. "Like every club in the country playing this weekend with everything on the line, we anticipate an electric atmosphere that will take nothing less than our best efforts to be successful in."
