HENDERSON, Nev. (May 7, 2021) – The College of Southern Nevada softball team dropped a Friday doubleheader in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
CSN fell in a pair of games with No. 2 Salt Lake Community College, losing by scores of 11-0 and 7-5. The defeats drop CSN to 30-27 overall and 20-18 in Scenic West play.
Southern Nevada and Salt Lake will play another doubleheader on Saturday.
Salt Lake 11, Southern Nevada 0: The Bruins jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in the game-one victory.
CSN earned just a single hit in the win, with
Madelynn Kennedy going 1-of-2 at the plate.
Salt Lake 7, Southern Nevada 5: A late CSN rally couldn't stop Salt Lake from picking up the victory.
SLCC jumped out to an early lead before Southern Nevada came roaring back, with Mckenzie Hamilton hitting an RBI double in the second inning. Liana Nagami later added an RBI single in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 3-2.
After the Bruins upped the lead to 7-2, the Lady Coyotes made a comeback attempt in the seventh inning, with
Madelynn Kennedy hitting an RBI single, followed up by a
Mayu Nishijima RBI single later in the inning.
Kayley Cole went 3-of-4 in the game, with
Caitlin Covington going 2-of-4 in the game, and
Bailey Pepper had a mark of 2-of-3 in the game, while Kennedy and Hamilton went 3-of-4.
