HENDERSON, Nev. (August 22, 2021) – An NJCAA non-conference women's soccer shootout in the desert ended in a loss for the College of Southern Nevada.
CSN fell in a 5-3 decision to Arizona Western College, dropping a match that featured plenty of offense. The Lady Coyotes are now 0-3 with the loss.
Arizona Western came out firing, scoring a goal early and never looking back while building a 4-0 lead at halftime. However, Southern Nevada seized momentum early in the second half, scoring in the 47
th minute on an
Annabell Olivero goal.
Grace Sedillo scored for the Lady Coyotes minutes later, with
Geraldi Gomez scoring in the 74
th minute to cut the deficit to 4-3. Unfortunately, Arizona Western scored a late goal to cement the road win.
Skyler Farrington and Gomez both posted a pair of shots-on-goal, with Gomez eventually scoring. CSN goalkeeper
Shayna Thompson finished with a save in the loss.
Southern Nevada will host a scrimmage against Park University next weekend.
