HENDERSON, Nev. (January 30, 2022) – The No. 14 College of Southern Nevada Baseball program split a doubleheader in a battle of nationally-ranked opponents Saturday.
CSN were swept in a doubleheader with No. 2 Central Arizona College in day two action of the 'Manny Guerra Memorial Coyote Border Battle – Presented by Sunset Station Hotel and Casino', ending with an 8-1 loss in game one and a 6-4 loss in game two. The Coyotes are now 1-2 overall.
Southern Nevada will close the tournament with a game on Sunday, closing with a 1:00 p.m. game against Arizona Western at Morse Stadium.
Central Arizona 8, Southern Nevada 1: A bevy of extra-base hits lifted Central Arizona to a strong win.
CAC had a solo home run in the second inning, with the game sitting with a 1-0 Central lead until a three-run home run in the seventh inning. The Coyotes scored their lone run on a
Trey Frahm RBI groundout in the eighth inning.
CSN posted six hits in the loss, committing three errors.
Central Arizona 6, Southern Nevada 4: A fast start by CSN did not hold up in an extra-innings loss.

Jackson Castillo two-run triple in the first inning lifted the Coyotes to an early lead, prior to Central Arizona firing back with three runs in the fourth inning to claim the lead. CSN reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning on an RBI single from
Austin Cates, prior to Central Arizona scoring three unanswered runs to eventually earn the win.
Castillo went 3-of-5 in the game.
