No. 14 CSN Baseball closes ‘Manny Guerra’ tournament in strong fashion

Box Score HENDERSON, Nev. (January 30, 2022) – After a weekend of tough competition against some of the nation's best, the No. 14 College of Southern Nevada Baseball team closed a preseason tournament in a triumphant manner Sunday.
 
CSN picked up a 3-1 win over Arizona Western at Morse Stadium, closing out the 'Manny Guerra Coyote Border Battle presented by Sunset Station Hotel-and-Casino' with a victory. CSN is now 2-2 overall.
 
Strong pitching boosted the Coyotes to the victory, with Austin Cates earning the win after throwing seven innings of three-hit ball. Cates also posted seven strikeouts in the win. Offensively, CSN posted a run in the first inning, and then posted scores in the fourth and sixth innings. Colby Smith was 1-of-1 with an RBI in the win, also picking up a walk.
 
Southern Nevada will travel south next weekend to play in a tournament in Arizona.
