HENDERSON, Nev. (February 19, 2022) – An ideal day for baseball ended in ideal results for the No. 14 College of Southern Nevada Baseball team Saturday.
CSN earned a doubleheader sweep over Prairie Baseball Academy, finishing with victories of 14-6 and 14-3 at Morse Stadium. The victories boost CSN to 6-4 overall.
Southern Nevada will host another doubleheader with Prairie on Sunday.
Southern Nevada 14, Prairie 6: A stretch of late scoring helped the Coyotes to the victory in game one.
Trailing 5-2in the sixth inning,
Mayze Mosher hit a solo home run to jumpstart a CSN offense that went on to score 12 runs in the following three innings. CSN posted 8 hits in the win.
Mosher led the Coyotes at the plate, going 3-of-5 with a pair of RBI's.
Garrett Maloney earned the pitching win, throwing four innings while allowing just one run with four strikeouts.
Southern Nevada 14, Prairie 3: CSN earned a run-rule victory in the second game of the day.
The Coyotes posted eight runs in the first inning alone, using a
Mayze Mosher RBI double to boost to a quick 4-0 lead. CSN would lead 14-0 in the third inning after a
Jackson Castillo two-run single.
Castillo went 2-of-2 at the plate to lead Southern Nevada, also posting a trio of RBI's. Devin Contreras earned the pitching win, allowing just a single run in the dominant win.
