Box Score 2 YUMA, AZ. (February 5, 2022) – Improved results greeted the College of Southern Nevada Softball team in a preseason tournament doubleheader on Saturday.
CSN closed out a preseason tournament in Arizona with a 10-1 win to start the day against South Mountain Community College, followed up by a 9-1 win against host Arizona Western. The Lady Coyotes finished the tournament with a record of 3-7 overall.
Southern Nevada will resume play on March 4 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference home series against Colorado Northwestern.
Southern Nevada 10, South Mountain 1: CSN rolled to a victory in the day's first game, posting a run-rule victory.
Kenley Cole hit a pair of home runs in the blowout victory, with the Coyotes taking an early lead and never looking back. CSN posted four runs in the bottom of the third inning, then scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to close the game. Cole went 2-of-4 with four RBI's, while
Caitlin Covington went 3-of-4 and had a home run.
Amber Triviso earned the pitching win, throwing three inning and allowing just two hits.
Southern Nevada 9, Arizona Western 1: The Lady Coyotes moved to a perfect day, run-ruling host Arizona Western.
The Lady Coyotes posted five runs in the first inning, taking a lead they would never relinquish. CSN continued to utilize extra-base hits, with Kenley Cole hitting a home run and three CSN players posting doubles.
Hannah Mearideth went 2-of-3 in the game to lead the Coyotes.
Laynee Anzalone earned the pitching win, throwing a complete game while only allowing three hits and a run.
