HENDERSON, Nev. (March 11, 2022) – A chilly Friday doubleheader ended in a split for the College of Southern Nevada Baseball team.
The Coyotes, hosting the College of Southern Idaho, posted a 7-3 win and a 3-2 loss at Morse Stadium, holding a 2-1 lead in the series after two days of play. CSN is now 10-12 overall and 2-5 in Scenic West Athletic Conference games with the loss.
Southern Nevada will conclude the series with Southern Idaho on Saturday, playing a series-finale game at 11:00 a.m.
Southern Nevada 7, Southern Idaho 3: A four-run fifth inning propelled the Coyotes to a victory in the second game of the doubleheader.
CSN posted an early run, with
Jackson Castillo posting a run in the first inning to give the Coyotes an early 1-0 lead. Southern Idaho rallied to take a 3-1 lead, prior to scoring three unearned runs in the fifth inning. Castillo then added an RBI single in the sixth inning, then he later scored on a wild pitch.
Castillo went 2-of-3 in the game, with Stone going 1-of-3. Brennan Holligan earned the win in relief, surrendering no hits and a walk.
Southern Idaho 3, Southern Nevada 2: An early lead didn't hold up for the Coyotes.
Bradley Stone scored in the first inning on a
Mayze Mosher groundout, then CSN took the lead again in the third inning on a Stone RBI single. Stone and
Gavin Amelburu both went 1-of-2 in the loss.
