CSN Softball falls in Scenic West doubleheader at CSI

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Nev. (March 12, 2022) – Adversity found its way to the College of Southern Nevada Softball team Saturday.
 
The Lady Coyotes were swept in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader at Southern Idaho, falling to 0-4 in the series after losses of 15-7 and 12-3. The defeats drop CSN to 7-11 overall and 4-4 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
 
Southern Nevada will host Snow College in a four-game series next weekend. 
 
Southern Idaho 15, Southern Nevada 7: An offensive shootout ended in a CSN loss.
 
The Lady Coyotes got on the board in the second inning, with Liliana Gutierrez hitting a solo home to cut an early deficit to 3-1. Hannah Mearideth then hit an RBI single in the third inning, with Mayu Nishijima hitting a two-run double in the fourth inning. Jocelyn Shupp added a two-run home run in the fourth inning for CSN but the game still ended in a run-rule loss. 
 
Shupp led CSN with a mark of 2-of-3 at the plate, alongside a pair of RBI's. Leina'ala Sakay was 2-of-2 in the game. 
 
Southern Idaho 12, Southern Nevada 3: An early CSN lead did not hold up as the Golden Eagles went on to a run-rule victory.
 
Caitlin Covington hit a three-run home run in the first inning to give CSN an early advantage, prior to Southern Idaho posting five runs in the second inning and six runs in the fourth inning. Kayley Cole went 2-of-3 in the game to lead the Lady Coyotes.
