HENDERSON, Nev. (March 25, 2022) – The College of Southern Nevada Baseball team continued its winning ways Friday, earning a doubleheader sweep.
CSN posted victories of 4-2 and 7-6 over Colorado Northwestern, moving their Scenic West Athletic Conference winning streak to nine games. The victories have boosted the Coyotes to 18-12 overall and 10-5 in Scenic West games.
Southern Nevada and Colorado Northwestern will play the series finale on Saturday.
Southern Nevada 4, Colorado Northwestern 2: An extra-innings victory told the story in the day's first game.
Mayze Mosher hit a two-run home run in the eleventh inning to give CSN the victory, after CNCC tied the game in the sixth inning. Mosher tied the game at 1-1 earlier in the game, hitting an RBI single in the second inning.
Gavin Amelburu then added an RBI single in the third inning.
Amelburu was 3-of-5 in the game, while Mosher was 2-of-4 with 3 RBI's.
Jack Sellinger earned the pitching victory, throwing 4.2 innings and posting 5 strikeouts.
Southern Nevada 7, Colorado Northwestern 6: CSN condensed its scoring into a pair of innings, lifting the Coyotes to the doubleheader sweep.
Trailing 4-0 entering the fifth inning,
Sayer Diederich hit an RBI double to open the CSN scoring, with
Jackson Castillo and
Gavin Amelburu later adding RBI's to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Coyotes took the lead in the sixth inning for good, utilizing a Diederich RBI single for the go-ahead runs.
Bradley Stone then added a two-run home run in the sixth inning to close the game.
Both Stone and Amelburu went 2-of-3 at the plate.
Garrett Maloney earned the pitching win in relief.
