HENDERSON, Nev. (April 23, 2022) – With all said-and-done, a weekend in Southern California is exactly what the College of Southern Nevada Baseball team needed.
The Coyotes finished off a four-game sweep of Community Christian over the weekend, earning wins of 10-0 and 12-1 in the series finale Saturday. The victories lift CSN to 27-20 overall and 19-13 in Scenic West games, which sits the Coyotes at third in the league standings with a pair of weekends left on the schedule.
Southern Nevada will host a four-game series with Colorado Northwestern next week. The program will also celebrate its 'Sophomore Day' on Saturday at Morse Stadium.
Southern Nevada 10, Community Christian 0: A pair of big innings lifted the Coyotes to a run-rule victory.
After posting a run in the first inning, CSN scored four runs in both the third and sixth innings to lift the Coyotes to a victory. Highlights in the game included a
Gavin Malcolm home run and a
Jackson Castillo triple.
Castillo went 2-of-2 and scored three runs, while Malcolm went 2-of-2 and had three RBI's. CSN's bullpen shared work in the game, with the Coyotes having five pitchers contribute in the win. Devin Contreras, Jr., was the winning pitcher, throwing a perfect inning.
Southern Nevada 12, Community Christian 1: The Coyotes took an early lead and never relinquished it in the clinching game of the series sweep.
CSN posted three runs in the second inning and four runs in the fourth inning to up the lead to 7-0.
Mayze Mosher posted a highlight performance for Southern Nevada, going 4-of-4 at the plate and scoring three runs.
Ikaika Ganancial went 3-of-3 in the game, also scoring a trio of runs.
Calvin Marley posted a strong performance as the starting pitcher, allowing no hits while striking out seven CCC batters in four innings. CSN's pitchers allowed just two hits in the game.
