HENDERSON, Nev. (April 28, 2022) – The College of Southern Nevada Baseball team opened its final home series of the season in strong fashion, earning a dominant win over a Scenic West Athletic Conference foe.
CSN posted an 11-1 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College, opening a four-game home stand that will end in Saturday's 'Sophomore Day' festivities. The Coyotes are now 28-20 overall with the win and 20-13 in Scenic West games.
Southern Nevada utilized the long ball throughout the game, with
Jackson Castillo hitting a three-run home run in the second inning to up the CSN lead to 5-1.
Bradley Stone added a two-run blast later in the second inning, then
Austin Cates posted a two-run shot in the third inning to give CSN a 9-1 lead.
Ikaika Ganancial hit a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Castillo was 1-of-1 at the plate with a pair of walks and 3 RBI's. Ganancial was 2-of-3.
Josh Johnson earned the pitching win, throwing five innings and finishing with three strikeouts.
Southern Nevada and Colorado Northwestern will play a doubleheader on Friday. The first game is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start.
