Lady Coyotes split road doubleheader Saturday

HENDERSON, Nev. (April 30, 2022) – The College of Southern Nevada Softball program had an up-and-down performance Saturday, splitting a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader.

On an ideal Saturday on the Wasatch Front, CSN had an 11-10 win before falling 5-4 to Salt Lake Community College, falling to 1-3 in the weekend series. The Lady Coyotes are now 20-26 overall and 17-19 in Scenic West play.

Southern Nevada will close the regular season next weekend at home against USU Eastern.

Southern Nevada 11, Salt Lake 10: A game that featured five lead changes ended in a clutch win for Southern Nevada.

Liliana Gutierrez set the tone early for CSN, hitting a two-run home run in the second inning. Taylor Hendricks then hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning to help Southern Nevada retake the lead, with Hendricks later hitting a two-run single in the sixth inning to give the Lady Coyotes a 10-8 lead.

Hendricks was 2-of-4 with 3 RBI's in the win. Amber Triviso earned the pitching win, throwing 4.1 innings and finishing with a pair of strikeouts.

Salt Lake 5, Southern Nevada 4: Another battle of wills ended in a loss for the Lady Coyotes.

Trailing 1-0 in the third inning, Southern Nevada took a 3-1 lead after Taylor Hendricks hit a two-run single. Caitlin Covington also contributed a single in the inning, which eventually led to Kenley Cole scoring an unearned run on an error.
