RANGELY, CO (April 8, 2022) - The College of Southern Nevada Softball program displayed all of its offensive firepower Friday, earning a pair of run-rule victories in a doubleheader sweep.
CSN picked up a pair of wins at Colorado Northwestern Community College, winning run-rule scores of 13-4 and 13-1 to open the four-game road series. The Lady Coyotes are now 14-20 overall and 11-11 in Scenic West play.
Southern Nevada and CNCC will play another doubleheader on Saturday.
Southern Nevada 13, Colorado Northwestern 4: Southern Nevada scored 11 runs in the top of the sixth inning, capping a run-rule win.
Liliana Gutierrez opened the CSN scoring in the second inning, followed by
Mayu Nishijima hitting an RBI single in the third inning. Gutierrez later contributed a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
Southern Nevada 13, Colorado Northwestern 1: CSN posted another run-rule win in the second game of the day, scoring in every inning.
Gutierrez opened with an RBI single in the first inning, then added a two-run single in the third inning. She then capped off a grand-slam home run in the fourth inning.
Gutierrez was a perfect 4-of-4 in the game, finishing with 7 RBI's.
Laynee Anzalone earned the pitching win, allowing just one run and striking out four CNCC batters.
