RANGELY, CO. (April 9, 2022) – How 'sweep' it is for the College of Southern Nevada Softball team.
The Lady Coyotes finished a season sweep of Colorado Northwestern Community College Saturday, earning a doubleheader sweep with wins of 13-1 and 10-2. CSN is now 16-18 overall with the victories, also featuring a mark of 13-11 in Scenic West Athletic Conference games.
Southern Nevada will host a four-game series with Southern Idaho next weekend.
Southern Nevada 13, Colorado Northwestern 1: CSN started fast and never looked back in a run-rule win.
Laynee Anzalone hit a three-run home run in the first inning to help the Lady Coyotes to a 6-0 lead, then
Kaitlyn Suarez hit a two-run double in the fourth inning. CSN posted 15 hits in the win.
Mayu Nishijima was a perfect 3-of-3 in the game.
Amber Triviso earned the pitching win, allowing just three hits and one run.
Southern Nevada 10, Colorado Northwestern 2: A barrage of home runs lifted the Lady Coyotes to the series sweep.
Trailing 2-0 entering the third inning, CSN scored five runs in a rally keyed by an
Amber Triviso two-run double.
Hannah Mearideth hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, followed up by a two-run blast by
Caitlin Covington in the seventh inning.
Covington went 3-of-5 in the game with a trio of RBI's.
