HENDERSON, Nev. (May 5, 2022) – The College of Southern Nevada Baseball team is looking to close the regular season strong and made a strong step towards that goal in a Scenic West Athletic Conference series opener Thursday.
CSN posted a 4-3 road win over USU Eastern, moving to 5-1 on the season series against the Eagles. The victory moves Southern Nevada to 32-20 overall and 24-13 in Scenic West play.
Jackson Castillo was the leading player for the Coyotes in the game, contributing to all of CSN's scoring. It was USU Eastern who took an early lead, posting a 3-0 advantage after the fourth inning. Castillo scored on an error in the fifth inning, then hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning to finally give CSN its first lead.
Austin Cates went 3-of-4 at the plate for Southern Nevada, scoring a run.
Trey Frahm had three walks.
Garrett Maloney earned the win in relief, throwing four innings and posting five strikeouts.
Southern Nevada will continue its series with USU Eastern in a doubleheader Friday.
