HENDERSON, Nev. (May 7, 2022) – The on-field results for the College of Southern Nevada Softball team were a perfect addition to Saturday's pregame festivities.
CSN split a pair of games to USU Eastern at Lady Coyote Softball Field, falling 15-7 before responding with a 13-3 win. The Lady Coyotes are now 23-27 overall and 20-20 in Scenic West play, and will enter next weekend's Region 18 tournament as the No. 4 seed. Prior to Saturday's games, Southern Nevada honored its sophomores:
McKenzie Hamilton, Mayu Nisihjima,
Caitlin Covington,
Serenity Jackson,
Liliana Gutierrez,
Amber Triviso,
Kayley Cole,
Codilyn Olds,
Jocelyn Shupp, and
Hannah Mearideth.

USU Eastern 15, Southern Nevada 7: USU Eastern scored early and often, leading to a CSN loss.
The Lady Coyotes got on the board in the fourth inning as
Taylor Hendricks hit a two-run home run. CSN then added more runs in the fifth inning, with
Caitlin Covington and
Jocelyn Shupp both hitting RBI doubles. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late for Southern Nevada.
Both Shupp and Hendricks went 2-of-3 in the loss.
Southern Nevada 13, USU Eastern 3: A display of offensive power keyed the Lady Coyotes to a victory to close the regular season.
Kenley Cole hit a two-run home run in the second inning, then
Liliana Gutierrez added a two-run home run in the third inning. Gutierrez wasn't the only CSN player to hit a home run in the frame, as
Jocelyn Shupp hit a grand-slam home run. Gutierrez also added a solo home run in the inning.
Gutierrez went 2-of-2 in the game to lead Southern Nevada.
Codilyn Olds earned the pitching win, throwing five innings and posting five strikeouts.
