PHOENIX, Ariz. (November 4, 2023) - In a lopsided season, the College of Southern Nevada basketball team displayed dominance from the very beginning, cruising to a 100-46 victory over South Mountain CC.
The College of Southern Nevada (1-0) came into the game as the favorites, and they didn't disappoint their fans. The game was played at a high tempo right from the tip-off, with the Southern Nevada's Jordyn Stroud leading the charge.
Stroud, a star player for the Southern Nevada, showcased her scoring ability throughout the game. She finished with a game-high 17 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field. Aaliyah Ibarra and Paige Grant also contributed with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The fourth quarter, although less productive in terms of points, saw CSNÂ maintaining their strong lead and finishing the game with a commanding 100-46 victory. Layla Faught had a game-high 30 points, showcasing her three-point shooting ability by making six from beyond the arc.
The College of Southern Nevada's defense was equally impressive, causing South Mountain CC to commit 38 turnovers during the game. Faith Mersburgh, Jordyn Stroud, and Adrienne Puletasi each recorded multiple steals.
South Mountain CC (0-1) struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, with Janae Byrd and Mimi Miller leading the scoring with 11 and 9 points, respectively. They shot just 30.9% from the field and had difficulty dealing with the relentless pressure from the College of Southern's defense.
The College of Southern Nevada's fast break points and bench contributions were significant factors in their dominant victory. They outscored South Mountain CC in fast break points 20-0 and had 56 points in the paint compared to South Mountain CC's 24.
