HENDERSON, Nev. (March 27, 2023) – The College of Southern Nevada Softball team was swept in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader Monday.
In a rescheduled series against No. 16 Salt Lake, the Lady Coyotes were swept in a pair of games, falling 14-4 and 15-2. Southern Nevada is now 15-13 overall and 7-7 in Scenic West play.
CSN and SLCC will play another doubleheader on Tuesday, starting at 12:00 p.m. at Lady Coyote Softball Field.
Salt Lake 14, Southern Nevada 4: A tough game ended with a definitive highlight for the Lady Coyotes.
CSN fell behind early and never recovered as the Bruins went on an early scoring run. Trailing 14-0 in the fifth inning,
Jocelyn Shupp hit a grand-slam home run to provide some fireworks for CSN, however late it was.
Mia Flores went 2-of-2 in the loss, while
Taylor Hendricks was 2-of-3. Shupp had four RBI's.
Salt Lake 15, Southern Nevada 2: SLCC posted 17 hits to finish the doubleheader sweep.
Salt Lake jumped out to a 15-0 lead midway through the sixth inning, prior to
Mia Flores hitting an RBI triple to get CSN on the board.
Miranda Garcia also scored on a wild pitch for Southern Nevada.
Caitlin Covington was 2-of-3, while
Mia Flores went 1-of-3.
Madison McDowell earned the pitching loss.
