HENDERSON, Nev. (March 4, 2023) – A beautiful spring day ended in a split for the No. 15 College of Southern Nevada Baseball team.
Hosting longtime league rival Salt Lake, CSN moved to a split with a 9-4 win and an 11-0 loss, earning a 2-2 mark in the series. The wins moved the Coyotes to 14-6 overall and 2-2 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Southern Nevada will host Southern Idaho in a Scenic West series next weekend.
Southern Nevada 9, Salt Lake 4: A late run led to a strong win for the Coyotes in the day's first game.
Both CSN and SLCC traded scores for the first few innings, sitting tied at 3-3 after the sixth inning. Southern Nevada broke the tie in the seventh inning, scoring three runs on a trio of doubles. The Coyotes would never trail again, with
Mikey Cruz, Jr., adding to the total with an RBI single in the eighth inning to give CSN a 9-4 lead.
Austin Cates went 2-of-3 at the plate, scoring a trio of runs while also posting two RBI's.
Evan Bunevich earned the pitching win, throwing five innings and finishing with six strikeouts.
Salt Lake 11, Southern Nevada 0: SLCC took control early and never looked back in the run-rule win.
Southern Nevada posted just two hits in the loss, committing four errors.
