CSN Men’s Basketball Starts Season Strong with a 99-56 Victory Over South Mountain

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Men's Basketball team opened their season with a bang, dominating South Mountain Community College in a 99-56 win. The Coyotes set the pace early, combining efficient shooting with a stifling defense, quickly establishing themselves as a team to watch this season.

First Half Blitz

The Coyotes stormed out to a commanding 49-23 halftime lead, showcasing both offensive prowess and defensive intensity. LeRone Wright led the way, scoring 17 points with an impressive 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Supporting him was Cyril Franklin Jr., who notched 14 points and provided a solid presence on both ends of the court. CSN's defense forced South Mountain into difficult shots, and their three-point shooting (9-of-12 in the first half) helped them build a comfortable lead.

Second Half: Coyotes Keep the Pressure On

CSN continued their offensive onslaught in the second half, scoring 50 points while holding South Mountain to 33. Maximus Romero came off the bench to add a team-high 19 points, shooting 4-of-6 from three-point range. Chase Jackson dominated the paint, securing a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while also adding four blocks. This interior presence helped the Coyotes score 50 points in the paint and maintain a stronghold on the game.

Balanced Team Effort

The Coyotes' depth was evident, with 38 points coming from the bench. The team's balanced attack saw contributions across the board:

  • LeRone Wright: 17 points, 5-of-8 from three, setting the tone from the perimeter
  • Maximus Romero: 19 points, 4-of-6 from deep, a spark off the bench
  • Chase Jackson: 14 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocks, controlling the paint
  • Cyril Franklin Jr.: 14 points, 3 assists, showcasing his versatility

CSN shot an impressive 59.7% from the field and 57.1% from three-point range, demonstrating efficiency on offense. The Coyotes also dominated the glass, outrebounding South Mountain 37-32, and racked up 28 points off turnovers, taking advantage of their defensive pressure.

Promising Start to the Season

With this impressive win, CSN's Men's Basketball team has set the stage for a strong season. The Coyotes demonstrated their ability to execute on both ends of the floor, showing versatility and depth. Coach emphasized the team's discipline and focus, noting that this win was a "collective effort" and that the Coyotes are ready to build on this success.

The Coyotes are back in action soon, eager to continue their winning streak and make a statement this season.
