Coyote Event Center – November 13, 2024

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Women's Basketball team extended their unbeaten start to the season with a commanding 95-56 win over Phoenix College. The Coyotes showcased their dominance from start to finish, improving their record to 5-0 in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Coyote Event Center.

CSN came out firing in the first quarter, building a 33-9 lead with precision shooting and strong defense. They continued their aggressive pace, maintaining control through each quarter. By halftime, CSN led 51-18, and despite Phoenix College's efforts to close the gap in the second half, the Coyotes' offense and defense proved too powerful.

Top Performers for CSN:

  • Trysta Barrett: Barrett led the Coyotes with 19 points, shooting 7-10 from the field, including 3-4 from three-point range, along with 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
  • Saroiya Ajomale: Ajomale contributed 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 steals, showcasing both scoring ability and defensive tenacity.
  • Adrienne Puletasi: Dominating in the paint, Puletasi recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, adding 5 assists and 2 blocks.

The Coyotes excelled in all areas, shooting 52.9% from the field while holding Phoenix College to just 30.8% shooting. CSN's aggressive defense forced 24 turnovers and capitalized on these opportunities, scoring 28 points off turnovers. Their bench also provided substantial support, contributing 26 points.

Phoenix College's Highlights:

Phoenix College struggled to match CSN's intensity, but Shyrai Shorty shined with a team-high 20 points, including 6 three-pointers. Despite Shorty's efforts, Phoenix College couldn't keep pace with CSN's scoring and defensive pressure.

Looking Ahead:

With their flawless start, CSN's Women's Basketball team continues to build momentum and solidify their standing as a formidable contender this season. Their blend of efficient scoring, rebounding dominance, and defensive strength bodes well as they aim to maintain their winning streak.
