Coyotes Triumph Over Spartans in the CSN Women's Basketball Holiday Invitational

North Las Vegas, NV- the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), the Coyotes Women's Basketball team delivered a stellar performance, defeating the Colorado Northwestern Community College Spartans 68-51. This victory marks a significant achievement for the CSN team, showcasing their dominance in the tournament held on December 18, 2024.

The Coyotes set the tone early, jumping to a 20-13 lead in the first quarter. Their aggressive offense and stout defense prevented the Spartans from finding their rhythm. As the game progressed, the Coyotes continued to build on their lead, closing the first half ahead by 10 points at 39-29.

Selina Gutierrez led the scoring for CSN with a strong 17 points, including critical three-pointers that kept the momentum in favor of the Coyotes. Saroiya Ajomale followed closely with 14 points and eight rebounds, demonstrating her all-around game. Kayla Terry also had a notable performance, contributing 11 points and securing 10 rebounds, achieving a double-double.

The Coyotes excelled in rebounding, outperforming the Spartans with a total of 59 rebounds compared to Colorado Northwestern's 46. This dominance under the hoop was a crucial factor in their victory, as it limited second-chance points for the Spartans and provided CSN with numerous scoring opportunities.

Defensively, the Coyotes were relentless. They capitalized on the Spartans' mistakes, scoring 18 points off turnovers. The defensive pressure was evident as CSN racked up 11 steals and five blocks, continually disrupting the offensive flow of the Spartans.
This win brings CSN's record to 12-2 for the season, a testament to their hard work and dedication. 

The support from the community and fans has been overwhelming. The stands were filled with cheers and encouragement, providing an electric atmosphere that undoubtedly fueled the team's energy and performance.
