In a commanding display of skill and strategy, the College of Southern Nevada's baseball team secured a resounding 9-3 victory over Colorado Northwestern Community College at Morse Stadium. Led by stellar pitching from Lucas Boesen and a potent offensive performance, the Coyotes showcased their dominance in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
Right from the start, the Coyotes set the tone with a strong offensive push in the first two innings. Center fielder Jet Gilliam and left fielder Garrison Geis ignited the offense, each contributing two hits and combining for four runs. Gilliam's aggressive baserunning and Geis' consistent hitting put pressure on Colorado Northwestern's defense throughout the game.
Designated hitter Brady Ballinger was the offensive star of the game, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and a grand slam, driving in five crucial runs for the Coyotes. His timely hitting and ability to deliver in clutch situations proved pivotal in securing the victory.
On the defensive side, Boesen delivered a solid performance on the mound, pitching four innings and allowing just two runs while striking out eight batters. Relievers Kody Bialas and Tyler Ray also contributed effectively, combining for three innings of one-run ball to seal the win.
Colorado Northwestern battled hard throughout the game, but the Coyotes' relentless pressure and disciplined play proved too much to handle. Despite the loss, Colorado Northwestern showed resilience and determination, scoring three runs late in the game to avoid a shutout.
With the win, the College of Southern Nevada improves to 17-7 on the season and continues to build momentum as they aim for postseason success. The team's balanced approach, combining strong pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting, bodes well for their prospects moving forward.
