Ephraim, Utah – April 13, 2024 – The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) softball team showed remarkable resilience and offensive firepower in a thrilling contest against Snow College, ultimately falling short with a final score of 16-14. This high-scoring affair took place at the SC Softball Complex and kept a crowd of 55 on the edge of their seats until the final inning.
CSN came out swinging, putting up four runs in the first inning highlighted by a two-run homer from Mayelli Elicerio that flew deep into center field, driving in Mia Elicerio. The momentum continued in the second inning with Katelyn Hunter driving a double to center field, contributing to a three-run burst that temporarily put CSN ahead.
Snow College responded fiercely, with their own series of home runs including a two-run homer from A. Sweat, who also clinched the win on the mound. Despite Snow's persistent comebacks, CSN kept the pressure up throughout the game, tying the score multiple times before Snow College finally edged ahead in the later innings.
Katelyn Hunter was a standout performer for CSN, going 4-for-4 at the plate, racking up five RBIs, and hitting a crucial two-run homer in the seventh inning that brought the game within reach. Jrew Marie Mina also shone with a home run and a double, adding vital runs to CSN's tally.
Despite the loss, CSN displayed exceptional batting depth, achieving a total of 18 hits. The defensive side saw Amber Sage taking the loss, pitching 1.2 innings and giving up six runs, which proved critical in this closely contested game.
