Rangely, CO – April 19, 2024 – The College of Southern Nevada's (CSN) softball team kicked off their four game series with a spectacular display of offensive firepower, decimating Colorado Northwestern in two consecutive games. The first game ended with a staggering 31-6 victory, followed by a solid 18-5 win, showcasing CSN's depth and skill right from the season's start.
Game 1: A Red Hot Start
The opener saw CSN put up an astounding 31 runs, driven by a relentless hitting performance that saw 23 hits, including multiple home runs and doubles. The game started strong for CSN with four runs in the first inning, and the momentum only built from there. The fourth inning was particularly explosive, with CSN scoring 14 runs, effectively sealing the game early.
Jrew Marie Mina was a standout, hitting a home run among her two hits and driving in five runs. Sierra McLean and Kenady Converse also contributed significantly, each with five RBIs; McLean hit a home run while Converse smacked two doubles in a game that was never really in doubt. Pitcher London Lamb faced some challenges but held her ground, allowing six runs over five innings while striking out two.
Game 2: Maintaining the Momentum
In the second game of the day, CSN continued their dominant performance, scoring early and often to secure an 18-5 victory. The game was highlighted by a fourth inning where CSN sent 13 batters to the plate, scoring eight runs to break the game wide open.
Camryn Hunkins and Shelbie Hoyt led the charge, each collecting multiple hits and RBIs, setting the pace for CSN's aggressive play. The pitching combination of Bryn Connors and Amber Sage was effective, limiting Colorado Northwestern to just five hits. Connors, despite allowing five runs, managed to strike out two and maintain control through most of her outing.
Offensive Juggernaut
Over the two games, CSN demonstrated exceptional control at the plate and aggressive baserunning, which overwhelmed Colorado Northwestern's defense and pitching. Errors by Colorado Northwestern contributed to the scoreline, with CSN capitalizing on every opportunity.
The College of Southern Nevada's softball team returns to action next week, hoping to continue their winning ways and carry forward the momentum from today's doubleheader sweep. With a balanced attack and solid pitching,
