North Las Vegas, NV – The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes returned to form with a stunning 9-1 victory against Community Christian College on September 10, 2024. The home side came out of the gates with relentless energy and efficiency, securing a win that improved their record to 1-1 in conference play (1-3 overall), while Community Christian College remained winless at 0-2.
From the very beginning, the Coyotes imposed their will on both ends of the field. Midfielder Jose Quintero opened the scoring just two minutes into the game, setting the tone for what would be a dominant first half. Quintero's early goal was the catalyst for a five-goal first-half barrage, with standout performances from Walter Ochoa and Joshua Elicerio, both of whom found the back of the net multiple times.
Ochoa scored twice, first at the 7:29 mark, following up with another just before the 80th minute to seal the Coyotes' scoring, with an assist from Elicerio and Francisco Duran-Andrade. Elicerio also added his second goal of the match in the 78th minute.
Angel Morales contributed significantly to the attack, notching a goal in the 69th minute with a setup from substitute Orlando Villegas Jr. Morales also assisted on Elicerio's first goal in the 20th minute. The dynamic attack of CSN proved to be too much for Community Christian, who struggled to contain the relentless Coyotes.
The defensive end for CSN, led by goalkeeper Anthony Pena, was equally effective. Pena kept a clean sheet during his 38 minutes in goal, making a crucial early save. His replacement, John William Oberes, held strong in the second half, saving three more shots and allowing only a late consolation goal from Community Christian's Noah Trudeau in the 79th minute.
Community Christian managed just five shots on target throughout the match, with Trudeau's effort the only one to find the back of the net. Despite a spirited attempt, including a missed penalty by Trudeau earlier in the second half, they couldn't mount a serious challenge against a locked-in CSN squad.
The Coyotes controlled every aspect of the match, from their relentless offensive pressure—firing off 32 shots, with 16 on goal—to their disciplined backline. CSN forced multiple turnovers and capitalized on their set-piece opportunities, registering nine corner kicks throughout the match, compared to just one from Community Christian.
The game also saw a number of cautions, with four yellow cards shown to Community Christian players and two to CSN's Bocar Hamath Yague and Jordan Nathan. However, the aggressive nature of the game only served to bolster CSN's intensity, as they maintained composure and capitalized on their chances.
With this resounding victory, the Coyotes have now claimed their first win in conference play, gaining momentum as they look to climb the standings.

With nine different players contributing across the stat sheet, the Coyotes will look to carry this confidence and teamwork into their upcoming fixtures.
