CSN Men's Soccer Shuts Out Eastern Arizona College 4-0 in Conference Showdown

North Las Vegas, NV – The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Coyotes continued their strong run in conference play, securing a 4-0 victory against Eastern Arizona College on September 17, 2024, at the Cheyenne Sports Complex. With this win, CSN improves to 2-2-0 in conference play and 2-4-0 overall, while Eastern Arizona drops to 0-2-0 in conference (3-2-0 overall).

CSN dominated the match from start to finish, with their defense locking down Eastern Arizona's attack and their offense firing on all cylinders. The Coyotes' defensive line, anchored by goalkeeper John William Oberes, allowed just two shots on goal, both of which Oberes handled confidently.

The breakthrough for CSN came in the 33rd minute when Walter Ochoa opened the scoring, finishing off a well-placed assist from Angel Morales. Ochoa's ability to find space in the box and convert his chances would be a theme for the night, as he played a key role in the Coyotes' attack.

Shortly before halftime, Jonathan Walter II added to the Coyotes' lead with a strike in the 45th minute, assisted by Ochoa. The chemistry between the two forwards was evident as CSN carried a 2-0 lead into the break.

The second half saw CSN continue their relentless pressure on the Eastern Arizona defense. Ochoa doubled his tally for the game in the 61st minute, this time assisted by Orlando Villegas Jr., as the Coyotes stretched their lead to 3-0. Ochoa's speed and clinical finishing in front of goal were too much for the Eastern Arizona backline to handle.

CSN capped off the victory with a fourth goal in the 78th minute, courtesy of Jordan Nathan. Nathan, who had been a consistent presence in the midfield, capitalized on a loose ball in the box to seal the win for the Coyotes.

Eastern Arizona struggled to generate meaningful chances throughout the match, with their best opportunity coming from a header by Shunto Shimizu in the 49th minute, but Oberes made a crucial save to maintain the shutout. CSN's defense remained organized and composed, limiting Eastern Arizona to only 10 total shots, most of which were from long range or off-target.

The Coyotes' offense outshot Eastern Arizona 20-10, with 12 of those shots on target, forcing Eastern Arizona's goalkeepers to make eight saves. Despite the best efforts of Samuel Martinez and Guilherme Palacio in goal for Eastern Arizona, CSN's pressure was unrelenting.

Scoring Summary:

Eastern Arizona committed 19 fouls throughout the match, which disrupted their flow and allowed CSN to maintain control of the game. The Coyotes also earned four corner kicks, compared to Eastern Arizona's six, though neither team was able to capitalize on set-piece opportunities.

With this commanding win, the Coyotes will look to build momentum as they continue their conference schedule. The team's chemistry and cohesion are starting to click, making them a formidable opponent for the rest of the season.
