Coyotes Fall to Yavapai College in Tough Road Match

Prescott, AZ – September 20, 2024

The College of Southern Nevada volleyball team faced a tough challenge on the road, falling in straight sets to Yavapai College (25-20, 25-9, 25-21). Despite moments of resilience, the Coyotes struggled to find consistency and were unable to keep up with Yavapai's balanced attack and strong defensive presence.

The match started with promise for the Coyotes, as they stayed competitive in the first set. Led by Sydney Hall, who recorded 5 kills on 34 attempts, CSN kept within striking distance, closing the gap to 21-19 before Yavapai pulled away to take the set 25-20. Hall's efforts were supported by Jeannie Anderson and Aleyson Ross, who combined for 7 kills, while Kenzy Arafa's 13 assists helped fuel the offense.

However, the second set was dominated by Yavapai. The Coyotes struggled with hitting errors and couldn't find their rhythm, managing just 4 kills and committing 9 errors for a hitting percentage of -.208. Yavapai capitalized on every mistake, with Tiona Drumm leading the way for the Roughriders with 9 kills, and they cruised to a decisive 25-9 victory in the set.

CSN fought back in the third set, showing more fight and cutting down on errors. The Coyotes improved their hitting percentage to .115, and once again, Hall and Ross led the charge. The defense also stepped up, with Ross and Anderson combining for 26 digs, but Yavapai's depth and power at the net proved too much. The Roughriders sealed the match with a 25-21 win in the final set.

Yavapai's Tiona Drumm and Trinity Pilimai stood out with their offensive prowess, recording 9 and 6 kills respectively, while Micah Gardner added 5 kills and 3 blocks. On defense, Yavapai totaled 9 blocks, stifling CSN's attempts to get back into the game.
