NORTH LAS VEGAS — The College of Southern Nevada men's basketball team closed out its home stand in convincing fashion Thursday night, defeating Community Christian College 96–59 at the Coyote Event Center.
CSN never trailed in the contest, building a 41–28 halftime lead before erupting for 55 second-half points to put the game away. The Coyotes shot 51.4 percent from the field for the night and out-rebounded Community Christian 50–33.
Guard
Ryan Raad led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 9-for-15 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Raad added seven rebounds and three assists as CSN consistently pushed the pace in transition.
Ivoryon Cuffee followed with 20 points, knocking down four three-pointers and dishing out a team-high eight assists. Forward
Gerald Patterson continued his strong interior play, finishing with 17 points and nine rebounds on 8-of-9 shooting.
The Coyotes received solid contributions throughout the lineup. Demarion Yap scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while
Qualib Ghallab added 10 points, six boards, and two blocks. Off the bench,
Drake Watanabe chipped in six points and four assists, and
Christian Ware added five points and five rebounds.
Community Christian was led by Amari Callender, who scored 22 points, and Jermiah Calhoun, who added 18. The Saints shot 36.5 percent from the field and were limited to five three-pointers on the night.
CSN improved to 7–3 on the season with the victory.
The Coyotes will be back in action Saturday, traveling to Redlands, California, for a rematch against Community Christian College.
