Palm Springs, CA — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes delivered a masterclass in pitching and offense in a sensational 16-0 victory over the Community Christian College Saints on Saturday. The second game of their ACCAC conference series was highlighted by a combined no-hitter from Kaden Soder and Ethan Broome, marking a historic performance for the team.
The Coyotes wasted no time, exploding with nine runs in the first inning alone. The barrage was led by Chaz McNelis, who walked, stole second, and then scored the first run on a single by Anthony Marnell IV. The offensive onslaught included a mix of walks, wild pitches, and timely hitting that overwhelmed Saints' starting pitcher M. George, who couldn't record an out before being pulled from the game.
Kaden Soder started on the mound for CSN and was impeccable, striking out eight over three innings. His successor, Ethan Broome, continued the no-hit bid with four strikeouts across two innings, sealing the deal for the Coyotes. Together, they faced a minimal 17 batters, only one over the minimum, thanks to a walk but countered by a double play.
Offensively, every Coyote contributed to the score sheet. Harvey Smerdon notably went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Jake. Gorrell and Alex Rhynes each added two RBIs. The team's aggressive base running also paid dividends, with multiple stolen bases contributing to their commanding lead.
The Saints' pitchers struggled throughout, giving up a total of 14 hits and 11 walks. The defensive effort from CCC was marked by a critical error in the first inning that set the tone for the Coyotes' scoring.
This no-hitter propels CSN to a 17-3 overall record and 11-3 in conference play, maintaining their position at the top of the ACCAC standings.
