Palm Springs, CA — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes capped off their three-game ACCAC series against the Community Christian College Saints with an 11-1 win on Saturday, sweeping the series in dominant fashion. The victory at Palm Springs moved CSN to an impressive 18-3 overall and 12-3 in conference play.
The Coyotes' offense was relentless from the start, scoring early and often. They opened the game with a two-run burst in the first inning, courtesy of Roy Durham's triple that drove in two runs. The team's momentum continued into the third inning, where they piled on five runs, highlighted by Kaiden Smaka's two-run double and consecutive hits that brought the score to 7-1.
Pitching was also a strong suit for CSN in the finale. Starter Tyler Avery opened with a scoreless inning before handing over the mound to Chase Frey, who earned the win with two solid innings, allowing one run on three hits. Kody Bialas and Andrew Kaplan kept the Saints hitless in the final innings, striking out six combined and sealing the defensive effort.
The Saints struggled to find their footing both at the plate and on the mound. Starter J. Mantia was charged with nine earned runs over 4.2 innings before G. Castillo closed out the game. Offensively, the Saints managed just three hits, with A. Herrera's triple being the lone bright spot.
CSN's lineup saw contributions across the board. Roy Durham was particularly effective, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, driving in two runs. The team also showcased aggressive base running, with steals from Alex Rhynes, Kaiden Smaka, and Harvey Smerdon setting the tone for the game.
This win provides the Coyotes with great momentum as they prepare to host Colorado Northwestern in a four-game series starting Thursday, February 27th. With their strong pitching and explosive offense, the Coyotes are looking like a formidable force in the ACCAC as they continue their quest for a championship season.
