HENDERSON, NV – The College of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes clinched a crucial 2-1 victory over Yavapai College in the third game of their four-game ACCAC series on Saturday. This win improves their record to 16-12 overall and 12-3 in conference play.
In a game marked by stellar pitching and strategic play, CSN's Bryn Connors delivered an outstanding complete-game performance, allowing just one run on ten hits, earning her fifth win of the season. Her counterpart from Yavapai, B. Petty, was nearly as effective, giving up two runs over six innings, but ultimately took the loss.
The Lady Coyotes opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Jimena. Barraza-Caro walked and advanced to second on a single by Destinee Lopez. Ellie Olson then drove Barraza-Caro in with a single through the right side, putting CSN ahead early.
Yavapai responded in the fifth inning when O. Boswell scored on a single by T. Tucker, tying the game. However, CSN quickly regained the lead in their half of the inning. Barraza-Caro sparked the rally with a single to center field, followed by Lopez who doubled down the left field line, scoring Barraza-Caro after a throwing error by the Yavapai shortstop.
Despite multiple hits, Yavapai struggled to capitalize, leaving eight runners on base. CSN's defense held firm, turning a crucial double play in the sixth inning to end a potential rally and preserve the lead.
The game concluded after seven tightly contested innings, showcasing the Lady Coyotes' ability to maintain composure and execute under pressure. This victory sets up a series finale where CSN will aim to further solidify their standings in the ACCAC leaderboard.
