NORTH LAS VEGAS – The College of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes showcased their prowess on the court with a resounding 92-52 victory over the Southern Nevada All-Stars. This significant win not only bolstered their record to an impressive 21-9 for the season but also highlighted their dominance at home at the Coyote Event Center.
From the opening tip-off, the Lady Coyotes seized control, outpacing their opponents with a strong 25-15 lead in the first quarter. Their relentless pressure continued, and by halftime, they had doubled the All-Stars' score, leading 53-31.
The Lady Coyotes' offensive execution was sharp and efficient. Kayla Terry led the charge with a stellar performance, scoring 17 points and grabbing seven rebounds, proving to be a formidable presence on both ends of the court. Brianna Mendez contributed significantly with her sharpshooting from beyond the arc, totaling 15 points through crucial three-pointers that kept the momentum in CSN's favor.
Faith Mersburgh orchestrated the offense brilliantly, dishing out eight assists while adding eight points. Her ability to control the pace of the game and make pivotal plays was a key factor in the team's success.
On the defensive end, CSN was just as impressive. They limited the All-Stars to a mere 26.9% shooting from the field while the Lady Coyotes shot a robust 47.6%. The defense, led by Adrienne Puletasi and her pivotal blocks and rebounds, stifled any hopes of a comeback from the All-Stars.
The bench players also played a crucial role, contributing 36 points to the Lady Coyotes' massive score, showing the depth and versatility of the squad.
As the regular season concludes, this victory positions the CSN Lady Coyotes as serious contenders heading into the postseason. The team looks forward to carrying this momentum forward as they prepare for their first round matchup versus Arizona Western College in the opening round of ACCAC playoffs.
