Lady Coyotes Drop Game Two as Central Arizona Erupts Early in Series Split

COOLIDGE, AZ — April 11, 2025
In a game that saw offensive fireworks early and a late rally attempt fall short, the College of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes dropped game two of their ACCAC four-game series to Central Arizona College by a score of 11-3 on Friday afternoon. The loss moves CSN to 18-17 overall and 10-8 in conference play.

After CSN took a 1-0 series lead with a shutout win in game one, the Vaqueras flipped the script in game two with an explosive second inning, scoring seven runs and seizing control early. Central Arizona added three more in the fifth to seal the run-rule victory in five innings.

The Lady Coyotes got a perfect start from Camryn Hunkins, who went 3-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored, but the offense struggled to produce with runners in scoring position until late in the contest. CSN strung together eight hits, including RBI singles from Ellie Olson and Miken Jacobsen in the top of the fifth that briefly closed the gap, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early damage.

Bryn Connors was tagged with the loss, surrendering five runs on six hits in just over an inning of work. Blakelee Christiansen and London Lamb also saw time in the circle, but the Vaqueras continued to pressure with timely hitting. Taylor Christensen's triple, Alyssa Baldenegro's RBI double, and a three-run home run by MariaFernanda Lerma were the highlights of Central Arizona's offensive outburst.

Despite the loss, CSN showed fight late, rallying for three runs in the fifth with contributions from Hunkins, Jacobsen, and Destinee Lopez. Chloe Makinney also chipped in with a stolen base, while Justice Lavin and Mattingly Mauzey each added a hit to keep CSN in the game.

With the series now even at one game apiece, the Coyotes will look to regroup quickly and focus on bouncing back in Saturday's doubleheader finale. Consistency on the mound and timely execution at the plate will be critical as CSN aims to secure a road series win and keep pace in a competitive ACCAC standings race.
