North Las Vegas, NV (August 28, 2025) – The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes men's soccer team showed grit, resilience, and late-game composure Thursday night at the Cheyenne Sports Complex, rallying from a goal down to defeat the Colorado Northwestern Spartans 2–1. With two goals in the final two minutes of regulation, CSN stunned the visitors to remain unbeaten at 2–0 on the season.
The first 45 minutes showcased a physical, defensive battle. Both sides traded shots, with CSN's
Alan Pacheco and Juan-Diego Cetina testing Colorado goalkeeper Maximus Nicholson, who finished with three first-half saves. At the other end, Coyotes' keeper
Aldair Castelo was equally sharp, denying efforts from Christian Wilson and Jake Hunter to keep the game scoreless at the break.
The half also set the tone for a chippy contest. A yellow card to CSN's
Julian Garcia in the 12th minute and a caution to Colorado's Tyson Sharp just two minutes later highlighted a tense opening stretch.
The Spartans grabbed the lead in the 67th minute when JT Orr buried a shot past Castelo off a crisp assist from Amaro Adasme Voigt. The goal gave Colorado Northwestern a 1–0 edge and put CSN on its heels.
The Coyotes nearly responded immediately. In the 69th minute, CSN was awarded a penalty kick, but forward
Enrique Reyes-Avila saw his effort denied by Spartan goalkeeper Sebastian Barreda, who had entered at halftime. Moments later, Reyes-Avila was shown a red card, reducing CSN to ten men for the final 20 minutes.
Despite being down a man, the Coyotes pressed forward relentlessly in the closing stages. Pacheco remained a constant threat, firing high in the 75th minute and then forcing a strong save from Barreda on a 70th-minute header by
Paul Jankowski.
Finally, the breakthrough came in the 89th minute. Pacheco slotted home the equalizer after a well-placed feed from
Francisco Duran-Andrade, leveling the match at 1–1. The crowd barely had time to settle before CSN struck again.
Just over a minute later, Cetina delivered the game-winner, finishing inside the box off an assist from substitute
Arman Chamoyan. The Coyotes' bench erupted as CSN turned a 1–0 deficit into a 2–1 lead in a span of 74 seconds.
