September 23, 2025 | North Las Vegas, NV – The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes Men's Soccer team took on one of the top programs in the nation Tuesday, hosting the No. 8-ranked Arizona Western College Matadors in ACCAC action. The Coyotes competed with determination throughout the match before the Matadors pulled away for a 5–0 result.
Facing a nationally ranked side, CSN was able to generate opportunities of their own.
Omar Ibarra led the offensive push with a pair of shots, while
Jordan Nathan,
Enrique Reyes-Avila, and Miguel Piña also tested the Matador defense. The Coyotes finished with six total shots, including one on goal, forcing Arizona Western's keeper into action.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Johan Hernandez turned in another busy performance, recording four saves against a relentless Matador attack. His composure between the posts helped settle the back line, while defenders
Sean Escamilla and
Julian Garcia absorbed pressure and disrupted AWC's buildup play.
CSN's midfield worked tirelessly to limit the Matadors' possession and spark transitions forward.
Francisco Duran-Andrade and Ibarra logged heavy minutes in the middle of the field, while substitutes such as
Matias Martinez and
Anthony Lopez-Tzunum added fresh legs to the effort as the match wore on.
The match featured plenty of intensity, with both teams committing 16 fouls apiece. The Coyotes showed their toughness against one of the country's most physical teams, never backing down from challenges and fighting for every possession.
With the result, CSN moves to 3–4 overall and 0–4 in ACCAC play. The Coyotes will look to regroup quickly as they head back on the road for another key conference matchup. Next up, CSN travels to Bullhead City, Arizona, to face the Mohave College Bighorns on Tuesday, September 30.
