Prescott, AZ (September 5–6, 2025) – The College of Southern Nevada Volleyball team put together a strong showing this past weekend at the Yavapai College Volleyball Invitational, battling through three matches in two days. The Lady Coyotes fell in their opening match to Park University–Gilbert but bounced back with consecutive wins over Justice College and Phoenix College to finish the trip with a 2–1 record.
Match 1: Park University–Gilbert 3, CSN 0
Scores: 27–25, 25–21, 25–23
The tournament opened with a tightly contested matchup against Park–Gilbert. All three sets were competitive, but CSN couldn't quite close the gap late, falling in straight sets.
Dani Robinson led the offense with 13 kills, while Isabella Pereira-Liu (7 kills, 3 aces) and
D'Maryline Milovale (6 kills, .200 hitting) chipped in offensively. Setter
Libbie Ferreiro handed out 21 assists and added two aces, while libero
Tia Alofipo anchored the back row with 17 digs. Despite the loss, the Coyotes showed resilience, rallying late in each set to keep the match close.
Match 2: CSN 3, Justice College 0
Scores: 25–22, 28–26, 25–20
CSN earned its first sweep of the season against Justice College in the Friday nightcap. The Lady Coyotes controlled the match with balanced scoring and aggressive serving.
Robinson again paced the attack with 12 kills and five aces, while
Kimora Combes hit an impressive .615 with nine kills.
Caidden Boggs (7 kills) and Milovale (6 kills) added depth at the net. Ferreiro dished out 15 assists, and Ortiz directed the offense with 17 more. Pereira-Liu was a force from the service line with six aces, while Alofipo added eight digs.
Match 3: CSN 3, Phoenix College 1
Scores: 25–19, 22–25, 25–20, 25–21
On Saturday, the Coyotes closed out the Invitational with a statement win over Phoenix College.
After dropping the second set, CSN regrouped and controlled the final two frames to secure the victory.
Boggs turned in her best performance of the weekend with 16 kills on .448 hitting, while Pereira-Liu added 11 kills and four aces. Combes (11 kills) and Robinson (10 kills, 1 ace) rounded out a balanced attack. Ferreiro and Ortiz combined for 42 assists, while Alofipo continued her stellar defensive play with a team-high 22 digs.
Weekend Wrap-Up
The Lady Coyotes finished the weekend 2–1, improving their overall record and gaining confidence heading into the heart of the fall schedule. Robinson led the team in kills across all three matches, while Boggs and Combes emerged as consistent offensive threats. The serving game proved to be a difference-maker, with CSN racking up 32 aces across the three contests.
The Invitational also highlighted CSN's defensive depth, with Alofipo, Ortiz, and Pereira-Liu providing stability in the backcourt. The Lady Coyotes Head will look to build on this momentum as prepare for upcoming conference play.
