HENDERSON, Nev. — The College of Southern Nevada Lady Coyotes opened the 2026 Coyote Kickoff Classic Friday morning with a 9–5 setback to Snow College at Lady Coyote Field.
CSN battled throughout the contest, collecting seven hits and scoring in four different innings, but Snow College capitalized on early extra-base hits to build a lead that proved difficult to overcome.
Snow College struck first with two runs in the opening inning, but the Lady Coyotes answered immediately as
Chloe Tepraseuth launched a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the first, cutting the deficit to 2–1.
Snow extended its lead in the second inning with four runs, highlighted by a three-run home run, before CSN responded with a two-run bottom half.
Ellie Leatham was hit by a pitch to start the rally, and
Mariela Rodriguez came on as a pinch runner and stole second.
Ciana Cubi followed with an RBI single, and
Mattingly Mauzey added a run-scoring hit to pull CSN within 6–3.
Snow added two more runs in the third inning, but the Lady Coyotes continued to chip away. In the sixth,
Haley Horst and
Justice Lavin worked back-to-back walks, setting the stage for Cubi's sacrifice fly and Mauzey's RBI single to make it an 8–4 game.
CSN added another run in the seventh inning as
Breya Hee reached base and later scored on a Snow College error, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Mauzey led the Lady Coyotes offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Cubi went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a sacrifice fly. Hee added two hits, and Tepraseuth accounted for CSN's lone extra-base hit with her first home run of the season.
In the circle,
Haylee Holloway made the start, followed by relief appearances from
Callie Averett and
Brooklynn Richardson, who closed the game with four innings of work.
The Lady Coyotes will continue play in the Coyote Kickoff Classic later this morning, facing Snow College again at 11:30 a.m. at Lady Coyote Field. The full tournament schedule can be found at
