Singleton, Scott Power Lady Coyotes Past Central Arizona in Four Sets

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — Tayla Singleton and Mia Scott combined for 32 kills Friday night as the College of Southern Nevada women's volleyball team returned to its winning ways with a four-set victory over Central Arizona College, 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, in ACCAC action.

The Lady Coyotes delivered an efficient offensive performance, hitting .278 as a team while recording 54 kills and 12 service aces to secure their fourth conference victory in five matches. The win improved Southern Nevada to 11-9 overall and 5-3 in ACCAC play, while Central Arizona dropped to 5-18 overall and 1-7 in conference competition.

Scott was equally effective, recording 15 kills on 28 swings while hitting .429. She added two service aces and finished with 17 points, giving Southern Nevada a formidable offensive combination that Central Arizona struggled to contain throughout the evening.

The Lady Coyotes wasted little time establishing control, delivering their most efficient opening set of the season's recent stretch. CSN recorded 12 kills with just two attack errors on 22 attempts, hitting .455 on its way to a convincing 25-16 victory.

Southern Nevada maintained its advantage in the second set, overcoming a less efficient offensive performance to claim a 25-21 win and build a two-set lead.

Central Arizona refused to go quietly, however, responding with its strongest offensive set of the match in the third. The Vaqueras recorded 14 kills while hitting .300, edging the Lady Coyotes 25-23 to extend the contest.

With Central Arizona looking to force a decisive fifth set, Southern Nevada responded with another impressive offensive performance in the fourth. The Lady Coyotes recorded a match-high 16 kills on 30 attempts while hitting .400, closing out the set 25-20 to secure the victory.

Briley Fawson added eight kills for Southern Nevada, while De'Lasia Grider continued her efficient play at the net with five kills on 12 attempts and just one error for a .333 hitting percentage. Grider also contributed a solo block, two block assists and a service ace.

Setter Libbie Ferreiro directed the Lady Coyotes' attack with 45 assists while adding seven digs and a service ace. Her distribution helped Southern Nevada produce two sets with hitting percentages of .400 or better.

Defensively, Kody Wengler delivered one of the standout performances of the evening, collecting a match-high 28 digs while adding two service aces. Chasia Hoapili contributed nine digs, while Singleton and Isabella Liugalua each finished with eight as the Lady Coyotes totaled 70 digs.
