HENDERSON, Nev. — Feb. 12, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes scored four runs in the second inning and added a decisive four-run seventh to defeat South Mountain Community College, 9–4, Thursday night at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.
CSN improved to 11–1 on the season with the victory.
The Coyotes struck first in the bottom of the second inning. After Brandon Swanson worked a leadoff walk and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Jake Gorrell, Carson Anderson drew a walk to put two aboard. Caden Kirby doubled down the left-field line to score Anderson and move Swanson home for the first run. Michael Albanese followed by reaching on a fielder's choice to drive in another run, and Jase DeSantis reached on a fielding error before Harvey Smerdon delivered a two-run single, aided by a defensive miscue, to give CSN a 4–0 lead.
South Mountain responded with three runs in the sixth inning to trim the deficit to 5–3, but the Coyotes answered with their biggest surge of the night in the seventh.
Jake Gorrell opened the inning with a single, and Carson Anderson reached on an error to put two runners aboard. Kirby lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Gorrell, extending the lead. Albanese drew a walk, and DeSantis followed with an RBI single to right field. Smerdon then delivered another run-scoring single, and Alex Rhynes capped the rally with an RBI single to left-center, pushing the advantage to 9–3.
South Mountain added a run in the eighth inning, but CSN's bullpen shut the door from there.
Smerdon led the Coyotes offensively, going 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Rhynes finished 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI, while Kirby drove in two runs. DeSantis added an RBI and a stolen base, and Albanese scored twice.
On the mound, Dylan Venturini started and worked four scoreless innings, striking out five. Evan Festa earned the win in relief, improving to 3–0 after allowing three runs over 1.2 innings. Benjamin Schroeder, Mayson Reichartz and Dominic Ostolaza combined to close out the contest.
