HENDERSON, Nev. — Feb. 13, 2026 — South Mountain Community College scored in each of the first two innings and broke the game open late to defeat the College of Southern Nevada, 12–2, in Game One of Friday's doubleheader at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.
The loss moved the Coyotes to 11–2 on the season.
South Mountain struck quickly in the top of the first inning, plating four runs on four hits, including a two-run double from L. Hewes and an RBI single from B. Lorenz. The Cougars added another run in the second to extend the early lead to 5–0.
CSN answered in the bottom of the third. Carson Anderson led off with a single and advanced into scoring position before Alex Rhynes lined an RBI single up the middle to put the Coyotes on the board. Joey Randazzo followed with a single, and Evan Festa drove in Rhynes with a fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 5–2.
The Coyotes had opportunities to add on, drawing six walks in the game, but South Mountain starter C. Stoller limited further damage, allowing two runs over five innings.
The Cougars created separation in the sixth inning, scoring three runs highlighted by a two-run double from B. Ornelas and an RBI single from Pierce, Jr., pushing the lead to 8–2. South Mountain added four more runs in the seventh, capitalizing on defensive miscues to close out the scoring at 12–2.
Christopher Wrench started on the mound for CSN and was charged with the loss, allowing five runs over two innings. Jacob Nelson followed with two scoreless innings of relief. Kekoa Young, Dylan Franco, Jaxson Reiser and Bryce McKnight also appeared out of the bullpen.
Rhynes finished 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Coyotes offensively, while Brandon Swanson and Carson Anderson each added a hit. Jeffrey Peters III reached base three times and stole a base in the contest.
