HENDERSON, Nev. — Feb. 20, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada jumped on Colorado Northwestern Community College early and never looked back, scoring 10 runs over the first three innings en route to a 13–3 victory in Game One of Friday's doubleheader at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.
The win improved the Coyotes to 13–2 on the season.
CSN wasted no time setting the tone in the bottom of the first inning. Alex Rhynes singled to start the rally and later scored when Caden Kirby reached on a fielder's choice. Moments later, Jake Gorrell delivered a two-run single to right field to extend the lead, and Evan Festa followed with an RBI single. Jeffrey Peters III capped the five-run frame with a run-scoring single as the Coyotes surged ahead 5–0.
After Colorado Northwestern plated a run in the second, CSN answered immediately. Gehrig Pineda, who entered as a pinch runner and later moved into the infield, scored on an RBI groundout by Joey Randazzo to make it 6–1.
The Coyotes broke the game open in the third inning with four more runs. Festa was hit by a pitch to start the inning and later scored. Pineda drove in a run with a single to left field, Randazzo added an RBI after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Gorrell drew a bases-loaded walk. Gorrell later added a sacrifice fly as CSN extended the lead to 10–1.
Colorado Northwestern cut into the deficit in the fifth on a two-run home run by R. Zapata, but CSN continued to apply pressure. In the bottom half of the fifth, Jacob Rieckmann reached on an error that allowed a run to score, and Gorrell added a sacrifice fly to push the advantage to 12–3.
The Coyotes added their final run in the sixth inning when Pineda doubled to left-center and later scored on an RBI single by Garrett McCoy, closing the scoring at 13–3.
Offensively, CSN totaled 12 hits. Randazzo finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Gorrell drove in four runs. Pineda scored three times and added an RBI and a double. Festa collected a hit and stole two bases, and Peters III went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
On the mound, Dylan Venturini earned the win to improve to 3–0, striking out eight over four innings while allowing one run. Jacob Nelson and Kekoa Young combined to finish the game in relief as the Coyotes secured the opener.
