Coyotes Walk Off GateWay in Wild 9–8 Comeback at Morse Stadium

HENDERSON, Nev. — Feb. 5, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes answered every late challenge Wednesday afternoon, scoring twice in the bottom of the ninth inning to secure a 9–8 walk-off victory over GateWay Community College at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.

GateWay struck first in the opening inning and added two more runs in the third to take a 3–0 lead. CSN responded immediately in the bottom half of the third inning. Jase DeSantis was hit by a pitch to start the rally, and Harvey Smerdon followed with a single up the middle. Joey Randazzo then delivered a two-run single that was aided by a throwing error, allowing both runners to score. Moments later, Jake Gorrell doubled to left field to drive in the tying run and even the game at 3–3.

The Geckos regained the lead in the fifth inning, but the Coyotes answered again in the sixth. After Jake Gorrell reached base and advanced, Michael Albanese laid down a bunt single to drive in the tying run. With the bases active, Jase DeSantis followed with a two-run single to right field to give CSN a 6–4 advantage.

GateWay erased that lead in the eighth inning, scoring two runs to tie the game at 6–6, before moving ahead in the ninth on a two-run double.

CSN mounted one final rally in the bottom of the ninth. Joey Randazzo opened the inning with a single and was replaced on the bases by Jacob Nelson. Brandon Swanson then doubled to left-center field to bring home the tying run. After a groundout moved the winning run to third, Evan Festa lined a single to left field to score Gehrig Pineda, sealing the Coyotes' comeback victory.

Jase DeSantis led the CSN offense, finishing 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a stolen base. Brandon Swanson and Joey Randazzo each recorded two hits, while Jake Gorrell and Michael Albanese drove in key runs during the middle innings.

On the mound, the Coyotes used four pitchers, with Drew Kaplan earning the win in relief after working the final inning. Mayson Reichartz provided 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to keep CSN within striking distance.

The Coyotes will continue their homestand Thursday, Feb. 6, against GateWay Community College at Lied Field | Morse Stadium. First-pitch information and the full 2026 schedule are available at www.csncoyotes.com.
