HENDERSON, Nev. — Feb. 6, 2026 — The College of Southern Nevada Coyotes broke open a tied game with a five-run seventh inning and added two more runs late to defeat GateWay Community College, 10–6, Friday afternoon at Lied Field | Morse Stadium, completing a three-game sweep of the Geckos.
The Coyotes trailed early before taking control in the middle innings, improving to 10–1 on the season.
GateWay opened the scoring in the second inning on an RBI double, then extended the lead in the fourth with a solo home run to go ahead 2–0. CSN answered immediately in the bottom of the fourth with a three-run rally. Caden Kirby singled and later scored, while Brandon Swanson drove in the first run with an RBI single. Jase DeSantis moved runners with a sacrifice bunt, and Jackson Rieckmann followed with an RBI triple to give the Coyotes a 3–2 lead.
The Geckos responded with a run in the sixth to tie the game, setting the stage for CSN's decisive seventh inning.
After working a walk, Jackson Rieckmann was replaced on the bases by Jake Gorrell, and Trey Evans drew another free pass to keep the inning alive. Gehrig Pineda singled to right field to load the bases, and CSN capitalized on a throwing error to regain the lead. Caden Kirby followed with an RBI single, Brandon Swanson worked a bases-loaded walk, and Jase DeSantis capped the inning with a two-run single to center field as the Coyotes surged ahead, 8–3.
CSN added two more runs in the eighth inning. Jeffrey Peters III reached base and later scored, while Gehrig Pineda crossed the plate on an RBI groundout by Joey Randazzo, pushing the lead to 10–3.
GateWay scored three runs in the ninth, but the Coyotes held firm to close out the victory.
Kirby led the CSN offense with a 3-for-4 performance, scoring twice and driving in a run. Swanson finished with two RBIs, while DeSantis drove in two and added a stolen base. Pineda collected two hits and scored a run, and Rieckmann added an RBI triple.
On the mound, Andrew Overland started for CSN and allowed two runs over four innings. James Bradford worked two innings in relief, and Evan Festa earned the win after tossing two scoreless innings. Boston Jensen pitched the final frame to secure the win.
