HENDERSON, Nev. — March 13, 2026 — The No. 18 College of Southern Nevada Coyotes battled through a marathon contest Friday evening, scoring in the bottom of the 13th inning to defeat No. 25 Central Arizona College, 7–6, in Game Two of the ACCAC series at Lied Field | Morse Stadium.
With the victory, CSN improved to 21–5 overall and 6–2 in ACCAC play.
The Coyotes struck first in the third inning when Jeffrey Peters III doubled down the right-field line and later scored on an RBI single by Harvey Smerdon, giving CSN a 1–0 lead.
Central Arizona responded in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a pair of walks and a throwing error before an RBI single by Kayle Pisano helped the Vaqueros plate three runs and take a 3–1 advantage.
CSN answered in the bottom half of the inning. After Evan Festa reached base, Jase DeSantis moved the runner into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Harvey Smerdon followed with an RBI single to right field, trimming the deficit to 3–2.
The Vaqueros extended their lead in the sixth inning when Emiliano Candela delivered an RBI single, making it 4–2. CSN chipped away again in the bottom of the sixth as Brandon Swanson singled and later scored on an RBI single by Festa to pull the Coyotes within one.
Central Arizona added another run in the seventh on a solo home run by Nolan Weinmeyer, but the Coyotes responded in the bottom of the inning. Jeffrey Peters III reached on an error and Gehrig Pineda followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 5–4.
The Vaqueros pushed the lead to 6–4 in the eighth inning when Jacob Croxford connected on a solo home run to left-center field.
CSN rallied in the ninth to force extra innings. Jase DeSantis singled and Jeffrey Peters III walked before Harvey Smerdon delivered a clutch two-run single through the right side to tie the game at 6–6.
Both teams traded scoreless innings through the 10th, 11th, and 12th frames as the pitching staffs held firm. Andrew Kaplan entered in the 10th inning and dominated in relief, working four scoreless innings while striking out six to keep the Vaqueros off the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the 13th inning, DeSantis reached base and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Grant Smith. After Carson Anderson reached on an error to put runners at the corners, Smerdon delivered again, bringing home DeSantis with the game-winning run as the Coyotes walked off the Vaqueros.
Smerdon led the Coyotes offensively, finishing 3-for-6 with five RBIs, including the game-tying hit in the ninth and the walk-off RBI in the 13th. DeSantis scored twice, while Peters III added a double and two runs scored.
Kaplan earned the win on the mound, improving to 4–1 on the season after his four innings of shutout relief.
